Project Management Updates

There are lots of things happening in the world of project management and we want to keep you up-to-date.

  • PMI has changed the PMP Exam effective January 2, 2021. A significant difference for the new PMP exam is a change from five performance domains to just three. The new domains will include People, making up 42% of questions, Process with 50% of questions, and Business Environment at 8% of questions. It’s also worth noting that PMI has indicated about half the exam will represent predictive project management approaches with the other half covering agile or hybrid approaches. To get further information, attend one of our free webinars on Taking the PMP Exam: What You Need to Know.
  • In response to Coronavirus COVID-19, RMC has temporarily suspended in person classes. We continue to offer PMP Exam prep classes virtually. When it becomes safe to do so, RMC will reevaluate our in-person class schedule in Q2 2021.

A must have for PMP (and beyond).
While I was reading this book, I felt like talking to my best friend, who is very talented in this field. A friend that speaks your tone, knows where you are going to make mistake, and reminds you about a possible mistake that everyone makes. It is one of the best books I ever studied. If I had known this book earlier, I would have passed PMP in my first attempt.

-Ranjan A.

I have several colleagues that have been through Rita’s training and highly recommended it, and they all went on to get their certification.

What are the professional benefits of completing the Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Certification process and exam?

The PMP certification can earn a higher salary—25% more, on average—than non-certified project managers. You can also advance your career by demonstrating you’re capable of working in project management, whether you are new to the field or have been working in project management for quite some time. Employers recognize the value and rigor of the certification which makes you a more desirable job candidate.

How much time should I spend studying prior to the PMP Exam?

It depends on the way you choose to study. If you choose to study with RMC’s Exam Prep instructor-led virtual class or our PMP eLearning Course, we recommend you follow the study plan and areas of focus developed in class. Your study plan should include taking 2 to 3 tests with an exam simulator to achieve a score of 75% or higher before you take the test. Play Rita’s Process Chart game once a day, tracking your score until you achieve a score of 80%. If you use Rita’s Exam Prep book, we suggest that you read the book once through without doing any Practice Exams. When confident with the material, take each chapter practice exams in one sitting. This will help identify knowledge gaps and where more studying is needed. Continue studying the book, and the PMBOK® Guide, focusing on those gaps, then retake the practice exams in the book. If you do not score 70% or higher overall on the chapter practice exams, consider PMP Exam simulation or a PMP Exam prep course.
