1. When will the PMP® exam change?
PMI® announced that they will be updating the PMP® exam on January 2, 2021. They last released a new version of the PMP® exam on March 26, 2018. Click here for more information. The exam is typically updated about every two-to-four years, usually associated with the publication of new edition of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, (PMBOK® Guide) and/or updates to the Exam Content Outline.
2. Has RMC released updated materials for the new PMP® exam?
RMC has released new 10th Edition versions of our PMP® Exam Prep products aligned with the PMBOK® Guide, Sixth Edition and changes to the Exam Content Outline (ECO). We plan to release a 10th Edition eLearning Course and translated versions of our PMP Exam Prep System in Q1, 2021. All instructor-led virtual classes after December 8, 2020 have been updated to the 10th Edition standard. Click here for more information.
3. When will the PMI-ACP® exam, CAPM® exam and PMI-PBA® exam change?

4. What discounts are available on RMC products and classes?
RMC offers bulk discounts off the list price for orders of five or more products. Bulk discounts also apply to organizations looking to purchase five or more seats in one of our classes. We offer a 5% discount off all products and classes for active government employees and current or former military members. We also offer discount programs for PMI® Chapters (not individual chapter members) and other organizations that use RMC materials to teach their own classes via the Training Partner Program. Additionally, we offer discounts on certain combinations of paper products and digital subscriptions. There are more details on product combination discounts later on this page. 5. How do I report PDUs after I earn them?
Go to the PMI® website www.pmi.org and search report PDUs to find the Continuing Certification Requirements System. After logging in, you can claim PDUs from your dashboard.
6. How do I claim the Contact Hours from my PMP® Exam Prep eLearning course or class?
Because RMC is a PMI® Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.), all our courses and classes are registered with PMI for a specific number of Contact Hours and/or PDUs. When you are applying to take the exam, simply list the course or class you took on your application along with the Contact Hours earned.
If PMI® chooses to audit your application, we will confirm your completion of the course or class in question.
7. What is the RMC Class Guarantee?
Any student who successfully completes one of our instructor-led exam prep classes is backed by the RMC Class Guarantee. Learn more.
8. Can I use RMC products to teach my own class?
Yes! With our Authorized Training Partner Program, instructors can use RMC materials to teach their own classes.

10. What is the difference between Contact Hours and PDUs?
Contact Hours and Professional Development Units (PDUs) are associated with certifications offered by PMI®. Essentially, Contact Hours and PDUs are training credits accrued based on a specified time spent learning. Contact Hours are prerequisite training credits to qualify you to take a PMI® certification exam, and PDUs are training credits required to maintain your certification. Many training classes and courses offer both PDUs and Contact Hours.

12. Can I use an old version of Rita Mulcahy’s PMP® Exam Prep book to study for the exam?
We write each edition of Rita Mulcahy’s PMP® Exam Prep book based on changes in the PMP Exam Content Outline (ECO) as well as the latest revision of the PMBOK® Guide. PMI® typically makes significant changes to the PMP® exam every two to four years, so we highly recommend using the latest edition of the PMP® Exam Prep book to ensure you are studying all the up-to- date information on the exam.
13. Can I download a PDF of Rita Mulcahy’s PMP® Exam Prep book?
Unfortunately, no. Rita’s book is the industry standard in PMP® exam prep, which makes it a popular target for piracy and fraudulent copies. To protect our intellectual property and ensure we can continue to share Rita’s innovative training methods with our students, we do not sell any downloadable electronic versions of Rita Mulcahy’s PMP® Exam Prep book. Any downloadable versions of Rita’s book are fraudulent and may contain inaccurate or incomplete information. HOWEVER, we’ve recently added online subscriptions to Rita’s PMP Exam Prep book. 14. What is your return policy?
All sales are final. However, we will do everything we can prior to your purchase to ensure that our products are the right fit for your learning needs and preferred study method. Our specific policy on returns is here.
15. What’s the best way to prepare for the PMP® exam?
RMC can help you prepare for the PMP® exam by providing self-study products, training classes, and eLearning courses. We recommend these options:
- Take a RMC class. We offer a variety of live PMP® Exam Prep classes. Although our live in-person classes are not currently available, we do schedule many instructor-led live virtual options.
- Enroll in RMC’s PMP® Exam Prep eLearning Course
- Study on your own using our PMP® Exam Prep System, which includes Rita Mulcahy’s PMP® Exam Prep book, Hot Topics flashcards, and FASTrack® exam simulation software.
16. Why is the PMP® Exam Prep book no longer available in Amazon?
RMC Publications, like many other bestselling book publishers, faces copyright infringement on many fronts. In this case, counterfeit booksellers were selling very poor quality knock-offs filled with typographical errors and other mistakes. These books would literally fall apart while you read them. Although counterfeit books are not an uncommon issue, in this case the counterfeiters were creating reselling outlets in Amazon faster than we could have them removed. Amazon has supported us through this process, but due to the restrictions in their policies, we simply couldn’t afford to keep the book listed only to support the counterfeiters who steal from us. Fortunately, you may still purchase genuine copies of PMP Exam Prep directly from our store.
17. What if I suspect I received a counterfeit RMC product from Amazon (or another channel)?
We pride ourselves on the overall quality of our products—both in content and in production. Most of the time counterfeit products are easy to spot:
- Poor quality binding causes pages to fall out of the book.
- Paper in the book is thinner than you would expect.
- Rampant typos and page layout errors appear throughout the book.
- The book has poor quality printing.
If you believe you have purchased a counterfeit book from Amazon or another reseller, we recommend that you file a claim against that reseller (including a request for refund) within the site where you purchased.

18. What discounts apply to combining cloud subscription products with similar paper products? How do they work?
RMC offers a discounted price in standard exam prep product combinations we call “System” (Book + Hot Topics Flashcards + FASTrack Exam Simulator) or “Book Plus Simulator Bundle” (Book + FASTrack Exam Simulator).
With our 9th Edition PMP products, we experimented with offering additional savings in the form of cart combination discounts.
These discounts offered 35% off a comparable product (cloud subscription vs. paper) when combined in a single cart. For example, if the spiralbound paper Hot Topics flashcards were $34 and a 12-month Cloud Subscription to the same kind of flashcards was $34, then the combination of these two products in the cart would create an automatic discount of 35% off the paper version (effective price $22.10).
We are currently evaluating whether we will continue these combination discounts with 10th Edition. Please contact our Customer Success team if you are interested in applying this type of discount to your order.
19. Can I receive a combination paper/cloud subscription discount after the fact if I’ve already own one of the eligible products?
In some cases, yes. If you have purchased an eligible product directly from RMC within the last 60 days or if you have received one of these products in an RMC instructor-led class within the last 60 days, you may receive the discount on the alternate format product.
