The PMI-ACP certification tests your knowledge and expertise using agile project management principles and practices on projects, while demonstrating versatility using agile tools and techniques.  The test lasts 3 hours. Specific details include:

The computer-based exam is 120 multiple choice questions.

The PMI-ACP exam is overseen by a proctor, which means you will be timed and observed during the exam.

How to prepare for your

PMI-ACP certification

1. Confirm your eligibility

To qualify to take the PMI-ACP exam, you must meet these criteria.

  • A two-year degree, a high school diploma or GED
  • 12 months of general project experience in the last 5 years
  • 8 months of agile project experience in the last 3 years
  • 21 hours of agile training. Meet the training requirement by taking a PMI-ACP online instructor-led class or on demand prep course.

2. Get trained, prepare to pass!

Take a PMI-ACP class or use our self-study materials to prepare for the exam.

Receive 21 hours required by PMI when you take our live virtual and on demand prep courses.

3. Gather your information

Document your general and agile project management experience and education.

  • Where you worked, roles & responsibilities

  • Length of time on general project teams

  • Time working on agile project teams

    AND

  • Training you’ve taken

  • Courses and workshops completed

  • Qualifying hours

4. Apply and register for the exam

Create an account on the PMI website or through the PMI app.  You’ll need an account to apply. Have copies of your training and educational information.

  1. Complete the application
  2. Wait for approval
  3. Register and pay for the exam
  4. Schedule your date and select your testing environment
